New way to celebrate Independence Day

On the porch with good company

We know very little of each other 

But the neighbor spirit is sweet and special 

Good people are hard to find lately

Nature, dessert, laughter, firecrackers 

Grateful.

Breathe

Oh how the storms ebb and flow

In different areas of life

This week, it's work

Last week, it was blended family messiness

So, I breathe

Today is just a day 

Touch

I had forgotten

How your touch can diffuse my crisis

Your hand has more power 

Than you can even know

Your hug is magic, our fissure showing signs of repair

To be that disconnected is terrible 

To reconnect afterward is powerful

I love you.  

Walking

Sometimes, just a simple walk outside can lift a chin

Sunshine 

Breeze

Tails wagging 

Trees swaying 

Outside air

Sniffs along the way 

Grateful for walks and the cute accountability to take them

Sometimes they just burst through

The feelings, all of them, at once

In the form of explosive drops of water 

Bursting through my eyes

Damnit

I hate crying

Try to push them back

But sometimes I can't control it 

And they just flow

Messy release.

Its not all fixed afterward

But I can get back in the game and continue playing again

A little more capacity is renewed

Wins

Some days are moment by moment

Today, I take the wins in between the losses

I relish a smile, buried within a sweet touch

There is happiness in the quiet peaceful backdrop, with your laugh against it

Let's end this day with the reading of a sweet old story

A book, that wraps us all up in it's love

Goodnight, my babe

Looking up

It’s those moments in between 

Between the calls and work

Between the demands of life 

Between the tasks and todo’s

When I am drawn to look up 

I see the sky and am rescued 

My imagination unlocks 

So expansive

And the world feels bigger
